Fourth of July Safety Tips

While July 4th is a day of celebration and fun, it’s also a day of risk. Fireworks, grilling accidents, water dangers, crowded roadways and spooked pets are just a few of the dangers. Here are tips to stay safe this Independence Day.
 
Firework Safety
  • Never use fireworks indoors or near dry grass
  • An adult should supervise all firework activities
  • Light only one firework at a time
Water Safety
  • Watch children around water
  • Never swim alone
  • If you notice storm clouds, play it safe and get out of the water. 
Grilling Safety
  • Grill away from anything that could catch fire
  • Avoid loose clothing that could catch fire
  • Keep a bucket of water or fire extinguisher nearby
Pet Safety
  • Keep pets indoors
  • Keep fireworks and charcoal away from curious pets
  • Ensure pets have proper identification attached to collars
