Brave Faces: Kelly Schulz

It takes resilience to bike to work year-round. Choosing to bike to work isn't just about saving money for Systems Administrator I / Desktop Support Supervisor Kelly Schulz—it's become a lifestyle. Starting in July 2022 when he moved to Bismarck, biking became a way to save on gas, vehicle costs and enjoy more time outdoors, even in winter.

But biking to work isn't always a smooth ride. Kelly had to figure out the best routes to avoid busy traffic and stay safe. He also had to learn how to be safe on icy sidewalks and in freezing temperatures. The cold weather means adding extra layers to stay warm, and for the challenge of ice, Kelly has upgraded the tires on his bike.

Kelly finds biking to work enjoyable, even in unfavorable weather conditions. With the right attitude and gear, he will continue biking and forging his path ahead.
